Often when ‘rhythm’ gets mentioned with respect to writing, it’s on the level of line-readings: the actual beat and flow of the sentences. But I think there’s a meta-rhythm too, that of plot-types and tropes.
What I accomplished in my 36th year (August to August)
A few summers ago, cutie and I were cat-sitting for friends, friends who a) had a much bigger place and b) encouraged us to have people over. So we decided to hold a dessert buffet. How hard could it be?
Editing is always so much slower than I expect it to be.
Partly because I don’t enjoy editing I am always looking out for ways to work smarter, not harder.

This year marks 36 years on the planet; 3 full Chinese zodiacs. It feels… momentous.
Such a weight has come off my shoulders. But there’s a lingering sadness, like watching a door be closed.
It’s very weird to be back, after 3 months abroad. Everything is basically were we left it; it almost feels like we didn’t go any where…
