Welcome back to Thematic Thursdays where I share from my collection of soundtracks suitable for writing or working. And to celebrate NaNoWriMo, for the rest of the month I’m picking extremely moody pieces that you can loop as necessary while you type like the wind, Bullseye.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>One of the best sci-fi series to come out in recent years is The Expanse, based on the Leviathan Wakes novels by James SA Corey. I am a big\u00a0<\/strong>fan of the show. There may or may not be pictures of me in cosplay.<\/p>\n

ANYWAY<\/p>\n

The soundtrack by Clinton Shorter is incredibly smooth and atmospheric and dark<\/em>. It combines the claustrophobia of space travel or asteroid tunnels and the paranoia of conspiracy theories with quiet, yet intense action.<\/p>\n

The opening credits is beautiful and haunting, giving away a lot of the worldbuilding with minimal fuss. The set design of The Expanse is a melange of influences well blended and the score is no different; each track is very different from the next and yet flows together smoothly without jarring. I highly recommend it for writing tense, thriller-esque sequences, moody and unsettled film-noir-inspired sci-fi, or simply for listening to while you stare into a glass of mushroom whiskey (don’t ask, it’s a thing).<\/p>\n

I had a YouTube link for you but it’s been since taken down, so here is the opening credits<\/a> as an amuse bouche and I’ll try to find a link where you can listen before you buy. Just out of curiosity, where do you buy your music? Google<\/a>? iTunes<\/a>? Or something else like Amazon? I can try to tailor the links based on what the majority uses.
