Hines, whose blog I follow, recently completed a year of writing full-time, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jimchines.com\/2016\/09\/one-year-as-a-full-time-writer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote up a nice little report<\/a> on the year, and how it&#8217;s difficult sometimes\u00a0to measure successes when one works from home. Obviously Hines, being a published author, is more &#8220;successful&#8221; than I am, but I thought, maybe I should write down my own accomplishments and maybe I will feel better about them. (I suggested that idea to Cutie who immediately responded with YES, DO IT).<\/p>\n<p>So: a year in review of &#8220;things I worked on&#8221;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>wrote <em>Creampuffs<\/em>, a full length novel;<\/li>\n<li>wrote <em>Northern Portents<\/em>, a novella;<\/li>\n<li>did the design and marketing for Grace &amp; Victory&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/graceandvictory.ca\/strange.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reading Strange Matters<\/a>&#8220;, a ePub review anthology by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Fell_Gard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew Surridge<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>did 63K for NaNoWriMo, which would become <em>Embers;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>worked for two weeks for an agency that was so stressful I nicknamed it the Hellmouth, which brought me to the brink of never wanting to do graphic design work again;<\/li>\n<li>edited <em>Northern Portents<\/em><\/li>\n<li>finished <em>A Curve of the Corridor<\/em>, aka <em>Space Crazies<\/em>, a novel I started in 2010;<\/li>\n<li>worked for another 6 weeks at a studio that did, in fact, break me from ever wanting to do graphic design freelance ever again and I really mean it this time;<\/li>\n<li>edited <em>Creampuffs;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>did the design and marketing for &#8220;Once Only Imagined&#8221;, the <a href=\"http:\/\/graceandvictory.ca\/imagined.html\">second collection<\/a>\u00a0of reviews through G&amp;V;<\/li>\n<li>did the cover design for Keith Weaver&#8217;s novel <em>The Recipe Cops;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>designed a professional website for myself;<\/li>\n<li>wrote 70K (in one month!) more on\u00a0<em>Embers;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and of course:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>started this here blag.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230; huh. It does look much more impressive as bullet points. And it doesn&#8217;t even cover all the other incidental projects I had on the go, like planning our Japan trip or my studies. Thanks for the idea, Jim!<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>August 31st was also my 35th birthday, so it is a perfect time to use as a &#8220;year to date&#8221; reflection.
